WE SHOULD HELP THEM, THE FAMILY PENSIONERS.

One SDE of BSNL retired on 30th June 2008. Before receiving his first pension itself, on 17th July 2008 he expired after a heart attack. His wife was granted family pension.

She was entitled to get pension revision with 68.8% IDR from 1-1-2007 as per the order dated 15-3-2011. It was not given. She was not aware of the revision.

Now Again, she was entitled to get revision with 78.2% IDR. That was also not granted. When some pensioners informed her about this, she approached us. We studied all her papers and took up the case and found that she was getting same basic pension from July 2008 to April 2018. Almost Ten years.

Finding no action from the CCA Office Kerala we got her case registered with CPENGRAMS.

Now the case is settled. She is granted revision with 68.8% and again with 78.2%.

The State Bank of India has credited a sum of Rupees 9.7 Lakh in her account on last Friday (22nd June 2018).

The Corporate Office of BSNL has opened a new Grievance redressal Cell for Pensioners. Pensioners can register their grievances online and the above Cell will monitor the action taken on such registered grievances.

There is a similar Grievance registration system operated by Department of Pension in the name of CPENGRAMS. It is very effective.

But, I doubt if our BSNL Corporate Office will show that much efficiency, given their track record. Still pensioners can try and register teir grievances through the new Portal.

The Letter from BSNL CO is attached for your information and publicity among our members.

GRAMEEN DAK SEVAKS WON THE BATTLE.

The Grameen Dak Sevaks all over India were on strike for last 2 weeks. Departmental employees in Postal Dept. also went on strike for three days in Tamilnadu, Andhra etc. Majority of departmental Employees were on strike for 10 days in West Bengal.

The strike was total in Kerala for 10 days. All post offices in Kerala remained closed, paralyzing the postal services completely for ten days.

[ In Kerala, GDSs are not part time. They are fully dependent upon the meagre income from this job.]

This solidarity shown by regular employees is first time in history, and very unique.

Sensing the anger of GDS and the sympathy of general public to them, the government has come down and taken some decisions.

We congratulate the GDS, the Postal comrades for this victory. Though the decisions may not be fully satisfactory, there is some improvement. Extracts from a news item appeared in media are given below:

β€œOn 6-6-2018, the Union Cabinet approved raising the allowance of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) effective January 1, 2016. The arrears after the revised wages will be paid in one instalment for the period from January 1, 2016 till the date of implementation. Minimum allowance per month for the ED DA (village postmen) will be Rs. 10000.

The government will pay dearness allowance of 7 per cent on the basic pay as per 7th Central Pay Commission instead of 142 per cent paid at present. There are 2.6 lakh GDS who work for around 1.3 lakh rural post offices in the country. GDS work in shift of 3 hours, 3.5 hours, 4 hours, 4.5 hours and 5 hours and remain in service till the age of 65 years.

Hereafter there are only two categories of GDS. Branch Pos Master and Asst. Branch Post Master – BPM and ABPM.Timing of their work also is categorized into two. Those BPMs who work 4 hours will get Rs 12000. And those BPMs who work for 5 hours will get Rs 14500 p.m. Some allowances also will be hiked.”

We know the old story of Rip Van Winkle who slept for many decades......then woke up and stared at the world he saw.....

BSNL was formed in 2000. 17 years have already passed. Many people were appointed as JTOs in DoT, before BSNL was formed. They were subsequently absorbed in BSNL. Some of them became AGM and DGM also. After long 17 years when these AGMs and DGMs are going to retire soon, suddenly BSNL has wokeup to see that they were not yet confirmed as JTOs.!! Now orders are issued to immediately confirm as JTO. ....

This is our BSNL management....
